FORTUNATE

a personal diary of 9/11

In 1997 I moved to Lower Manhattan to a studio overlooking the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center complex.  Who would have known four years later that same view would take my breath away (and a whole lot more) as I was unwillingly awarded a dubious front row seat to the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

Fortunate is my personal diary of 9/11 and the subsequent weeks, as I worked to reclaim my belongings from the studio and my humanity through my artwork.  The book, written in days and weeks following 9/11 is combined with images of my experiences and my artwork that helped me heal.

After 8 years, those memories are still part of my daily consciousness. I am honored to share this experience with you.
